contact adhesive or paneling removal?

Soonds like you have removed your paneling and you have contact adhesive remaining on the drywall that was behind the paneling. If so, you will have to scrape the adhesive off and in the process may damage the drywall some. then you will have to smooth out the damaged areas of drywall with drywall mud. then prime and paint Post back if you have more specific details on your wall situation and if my assumptions were correct. Hope this helps some. others may have better ideas to offer based on the small amount of info. you provided. LJ
