is what I would suggest. if not done correctly could spell disaster for your house. if will need to have a the proper sized load bearing installed to replace the section of wall that you remove. and then the support studs on each end of the beam will need to be strong enough to carry the weight of the joist/beam as well. do it right and safely to ensure a good sound job done well. for piece of mind and to help with resale value. good luck LJ
