In reply to leaves constantly clogging my rain gutters by E Hoffman on August 5th, 2000 09:18 AM [Go to top of thread]

This may sound too obvious but have you considered pruning your trees? Yes, a people do like shade around and over the house. However, it comes at a 'price'. And yours is clogging gutters.

For what it's worth, on my property, the wind in Fall usually blows West to East. To eliminate the problem, I simply pruned back the trees on that side of the house. No more problem w/leaves. Also, the trees are somewhat of a liability. You didn't mention where you live but where I live, they could be easily 'kicked around' and either uprooted or have limbs ripped out of them from heavy winds. Yes, I have insurance but I really don't want the hastle of living in a Motel for 3-6 months while my 'new home' is rebuilt.

Anyways, those are my thoughts. My best to ya and hope this helps.

PS: Gutter guards are a waste of $$$, IMO. AT some point, you have to go up there and have them cleaned too!!!
