Condensing furnaces

Posted by Dave Clew on October 21st, 2002 11:20 AM

I am hearing concerns from my maintenance staff that the condensing furnaces are expensive to maintain. Replacement parts such as motors and controllers cost much more, are not available as a unit, and failure rates are higher. I wonder if anyone else is seeing the same problems.
I'd like to recommend them for energy savings, but am concerned that the repairs may exceed savings. Our climate is mild with about 500 hrs heating per year.
