color wash of brick fireplace

Posted by gail on July 18th, 2001 10:34 AM

I have dark, wall of brick that surrounds a fireplace (1970. I saw on TV once where someone had diluted paint and did like a wash, but I can remember instructions. Hubby does not want it totally covered with paint. Just need some way to lighten it up. We never use the fireplace. Should we cover it with wood, moldings, etc, so that if we ever did resell, the next owners could take all of the wood off?? Confused with this, as so many say they love brick and others hate it. I don't like it, but don't want to devalue the house either. All of you experts, help would be greatly appreciated!!
