The application you are intrested in is called cobble-wood flooring. It's 1" slices cut from old 4x4 posts. The slices are then cut in half approx.1"x2"x4. They are then bonded to the subfloor with an oil base adhesive. I'm not sure the correct grout mixture, but I do remember the consistancy is similar to "yogart"
