The gentleman is right about the three things that could be wrong with your closet light. The only thing I might add is the testing portion of the problem. Home Depot (no I don't work for them) has a tester that looks similar to a fat pencil. It is extremely easy to use it requires very little knowledge about testers. Unfortunatly it only tells you there is "High Voltage" (110 and up) but not what that voltage is. Just stick it in the socket and if it lights up the socket is hot. With this device you don't have to remove swithc from box just first check the top screw of switch within the box then the bottom. The price is under $10 and will be very handy throughout your home ownership. good luck TAM
