Clogged Perimeter Drain??????

Posted by John A Johnston on June 14th, 2001 12:09 PM

If anyone could help I would appreciate it. We are getting 10 different opinions from 10 different people and are really frustrated.

Basement leaks, did not used to...water is clear so it appears to be making its way through the gravel for the perimeter drain. house was built in '77.....sump pump used to go off frequently during and after a heavy rain...there is no water entering the sump pit now...even after hours of downpour nothing enters the pit....there is a 4" corrogated black plastic pipe that feeds the pit that we are pretty sure runs the perimeter of the basement.

Is it possible that the drainage tile has been clogged? Is it possible to fix that? We have been told that this line cannot be snaked since it is plastic pipe. Is this true?

Is it more likely that the tile has collapsed?
