client's pine plank floors

Posted by Kris Lipscomb on February 22nd, 2001 08:38 AM

A recent client of mine purchased a home with incredible 6" pine planks over the entire upstairs, downstairs and kitchen. As his designer, I am strongly suggesting a good clean up with a tungsten oil treatment. However, "Bob" (not his real name) has a buddy who is trying to convince him to lay a pergo laminate over the top of these floors for "heating, bugs, cracks, etc. I am combing every resource possible to dissuade him from this sacriliege- how can I convince him not only of the value but also of the innate beauty of the old pine, flaws chinks and all?

Thanks for any feedback!
