Believe it or not Soft Scrub works well on walls that are painted. What your smelling is from the nicotine residue on the walls & ceiling. Lightly clean the walls with a sponge & soft scrub to remove this residue. You WILL have to repaint the ceilings IF they are the fiber tiles BUT you DONT need to use Kiltz before doing so. A premimum paint ( not your $8 a gallon stuff )will cover that residue right up. A Good paint will cost you $28 to $35 a gallon but its worth it. Something I have been wanting to try is using my steam genie on the tiled ceilings but have not done that yet.
