OK, I didn't go into this totally blind. I've had a title search and survey. As far as the property is concerned (boy, I wish I could draw this...) it was originally designed as a subdivision of four lots with a county owned circle splitting two of the lots to gain access to the other two. I own three of the four lots with a house on one of the inner lots. Instead of a county maintained circle, the original owner of my lots installed a driveway to the house. This driveway runs along one side of what is surveyed as the county circle. My neighbor has conveniently taken over the second half of this roadway with his fences, sheds, etc. By the survey, it is not 'my' property, it's actually the county road, but there's a real eye-sore of lumber, old appliances, cars, etc piled up in the area.
