How do you get rid of cigarette smoke smell? The previous occupants of my house smoked heavily in it for three years and it now has a strong stale cigarette smoke smell. I've been told to repaint the walls and ceilings using a oil based sealer like Kilz under the new color of paint (a latex). Will this work? Do I need to paint the woodwork which is stained a meduim brown? Also, how do you get the smell out of the carpet? Will a standard rental carpet cleaner work or do I need to get a professional carpet cleaner to do the job or is there some other kind of cleaning scheme that will work? I've already tried to airing out the rooms, smoke-eating candles, and aerosol sprays. They work for maybe a day and then the smell comes back. Thanks for your help! Kelly
