One year ago I had chimney jacked back into place using a pier device produced
by Atlas Systems. Try a web search on them. Basically "L" shaped brackets are
mounted against the chimney and under the footing. A hydraulic cylinder is attached
to the bracket and pipe is forced into the ground until a solid strata is reached.
When one bracket can lift the whole chimney, then the process is repeated with a
second bracket. When they are done the weight of the chimney is divided evenly.
It cost me about $2700. Thirty feet of pipe were required in my case to reach a
solid layer. Atlas products are installed by independent contractors. The main
office can refer you to ones in your area.
