Yes, You should be able to install a liner in less than an hour. They're relatively simple to do and should be available at a local do it yourself shop like Home Depot etc.

The only problem with some of the kits is making sure you have the correct endpiece for the item you're going to have vented into the chimney.

You should be able to get away with about $50/parts for this job. $1800 is absolutely outrageous.
