In reply to What about a checklist of monthly, quarterly, yearly by Kathy Roberts on February 23rd, 1999 02:10 PM [Go to top of thread]

Tried it once- fell behind about 5 years. In my opinion,
the people that devise these ideas are living in a dream
world where people have all of this free time to accomplish
these checklists. I am happy when I find time to clean my
furnace filter every month. When I had a standard water heater
I rarely remembered to drain the tank of sediment. Like the
majority of people, when it breaks I fix it.

In truth, the only religious maintenance I do is on the furnace.
I know that when it goes bad is when I really need it (never heard
of a furnace breaking in the summer). Clean it out thoroughly in
the spring and it will be ready for the fall.

This is all my opinion and maybe there are some people who actually
do routine maintenance.
