Check the vent!

That is often a sign of poor air flow which can occur if the dryer's vent is plugged with lint, it is too long or poorly installed or the flapper cover on the outside of the house is stuck closed.

If it is an electric dryer you can try running it for a load or 2 with the vent totally removed. If drying improves, you can be fairly certain the vent is (at least) part of the problem. You can read more about dryer venting at the following link:
