You bought the cheapest fan on the market with a cold rolled steel motor and wonder why its noisy. $60 does not buy much quality. Noise is related to bearings, motor size and capacitor size. The best motors are stack or K55 motors. Pancake motors like yours vary a lot in quality. I still think the dealer should take a return in its original packaging.

When looking for a replacement figure on spending between $100 and $200 and stick with national brands like Hunter, Emerson or Casa Blanca (not warehouse store or home improvement brands). These are made with much higher quality motors and may include features like remote controls and better finishes in the higher price ranges. Look online to get ratings at places like where the fans are rated for quality and price.
