Chainsaw chain fell off!

I just bought a Poulan chainsaw from Home Depot-I have used it for a few days, I cut and segmented 3 or 4 small-medium trees. I forgot to adjust the tension on the chain, and it fell off while I was using it. I put it back on using the instructions, (but I'm not too good with instructions!) and it came off again. This time it won't go back on--it seems like some of the links have bent or been notched and they won't go back into the bar groove. I am waiting to take it to a shop this weekend to have a "pro" look at it. But I have a lot more cutting to do and hope I only need a new chain. I am worried that I did more than mess up the chain--any thoughts? Thanks--I'm worried that I just blew $150!
