You will need to fill in the areas with 1/2 inch or 5/8 inch drywall useing fiber mash joint tape were the drywall meets the old plaster. useing a readymix joint compound fill in the areas with joint knife and fill in the screw heads flush with the drywall,let dry and go over it with a finishing coat being sure to fether out the edges,after it is dry sand smooth not sanding to area and paint or texture to match the old could replaster the area but if you don't have any experiance at plastering.i wouldn't recomend that you do it yourself.
