Fleet Farm (also known as Farm&Fleet) and Home Depot both carry a product called Ceiling Max. Instead of haning the panel crossmembers on wire they screw right to the joists and the panels and T's snap in. Its hard to describe and I do not know if they work well. My basement is only 86" from the floor. City code said this was to low. I'm going to finish it anyway. I asked the city if they really could tell me not to. They said only if it was new construction. I figure I'll but enough Cieling Max components to do one room and see if I like it. At the rate I'm going you probably wouldn't want to wait for my results though.
