ceiling lights

Posted by Greg on November 10th, 2002 01:21 AM

hi, i just bought a ceiling light set from ikea. it consists of 2 wires that are strung from one wall to another and have 5 lights attached in between. there is a transformer that attaches to the ceiling mount wiring for the normal room lighting. from the ceiling there is a blue wire and a white wire, both solid. the transformer has 2 brown wires, stranded, and the bracket that holds the transformer in place has a yellow wire with a green strip on it screwed to part of it. i assume this is the ground, but there doesn't seem to be a ground wire coming from the ceiling. i attached the brown wires to the blue and white ones separatly and just removed the ground since there was nothing to attach it to. however when i flicked the switch, nothing happened. where did i go wrong??? can anyone help?
