On April 24 2003 my apartment was affected by a fire in the apartment next door. My apartment suffered water and smoke damage. It has just been discovered that the ceiling insulation is full of water which as been there since the fire. It is now May 5 2003. Underneath the insulation is the ceiling which is made out of drywall. My landlord states that this ceiling drywall will dry out. My fear is that all this water that has been there since April 24th has now completely soaked the drywall and it will not dry, mold will grow and /or the drywall will be so weakened it may collapse. Is this true or not? Should I insist my landlord replace the ceiling drywall before I move back in?
