J.C., that's why I made the comment about big rooms. I think it is different if you have 8 or 10 foot ceilings than if you have the tall, 2 or more story ceilings that are becoming more commonplace with "Great Rooms" in many modern houses. If you have one of these with 16-20 foot ceilings and have the fan blow up in winter, you never get the warm air up there down to the floor. Therefore, it is better to push the hot air in one of them directly down. The warm air will still circulate and go up the walls. I'll leave others to worry about conditions in the Congo.
