Installation of a ceiling fan in an existing metal box is a snap.... unfortunately that isn't the case here. To properly install the fans, you will need to first locate two joists which will support the weight of the fan. You will also nee d a source for power, usually obtained by tapping into an existing wall outlet. The ceiling box must be metal to support the fan weight. 14 gauge sheathed electrical cable is fished between the ceiling and wall joists into a wall switch, then the power source. REM EMBER... SAFETY FIRST AT ALL TIMES AND ALWAYS CHECK WITH YOUR LOCAL BUILDING CODES. If this hasn't scared you two off the project (not intended to) I'm sure the local builders supply can provide all the materials and answers you will need to finish this project. Good luck and keep your cool...
