I am attempting to install a ceiling fan into a ceiling box operated by a wall switch which used to be a ceiling light. The junction box in the ceiling has a black wire, white wire, ground wire(grounded to the box), and a black and white wire crimped together. My fan has the normal black, white, blue, and green(ground wire). I have already sucessfully installed 3 fans in other rooms. They all had a black to black crimped together in the box which is where the black wire from the fan is connected ... this box has a black to white wire together. When I connected the black fan wire to the black-white in the box ..all kinds of strange things happened.
Should the fan wires be connected differently because of the black-white combination in the box???
