In reply to Wiring a Ceiling Fan by JB on March 6th, 2004 09:28 PM [Go to top of thread]

i have the following wires coming from the house electrical unit on top of the fan housing: 1 BLACK, 1 WHITE AND 1 GREEN.
FROM THE FAN: 3 WHITE WIRES, 1 RED WIRE, 1 BLUE WIRE AND 1 BLACK WIRE PLUS 2 SEPARATE BUNCHES OF 3 BLACK WIRES.

I CONNECTED THE 1 WHITE HOUSE WIRE TO THE WHITE WIRES INSIDE FAN HOUSING, THE 1 BLACK HOUSE WIRE TO THE 1 BLACK WIRE FROM THE FAN,THE RED WIRE FROM THE FAN HOUSING TO 1 BUNCH OF 3 BLACK WIRES ALSO FROM THE FAN HOUSING, THE BLUE WIRE FROM THE FAN HOUSING TO THE OTHER 3 BLACK WIRES FROM THE FAN HOUSING AND THE GREEN WIRE TO THE BLACK
WIRES. THE CEILING FAN WORKS, THE FAN LIGHTS ALL TURN OFF AND ON IN SEQUENCE , BUT THERE IS NO
ELECTRICITY IN THE ROOM. NONE OF THE WALL SOCKETS HAVE ANY POWER. THE ONLY ELECTRICITY IN THE ROOM IS COMING FROM THE CEILING FAN. THE BREAKERS HAVE BEEN CHECKED AND THEY SEEM TO BE O.K.

THANKS

MILY
