Ceiling fan popped a bulb

Simple reason. The fan motor is a LARGE inductor. Upon applying power, an instantaneous break in the motor circuit resulted in inductive "kick-back", many times the supply voltage, blew the lamp element. Therefore, the wiring fault was to the motor, easy to check, re-do connectors. Piece a cake!
