We have a 1950 built cottage style home with cedar shake siding. At one time the shakes were partially stripped of some paint, probably only loose paint but not all, nor was it done very well. The house was then painted again. This stripping was quite possibly done with a power washer because there are many gouges in the shakes. What can be done to prepare the shakes now for painting and are there any tools to make the job any easier. We are hoping to paint and do some shake replacement where needed this summer. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
