Yes, you can, Georgia. Remember that cedar is a pretty soft wood so use a plastic putty knife for removal of the paint/stripper goo. For safety reasons, I prefer strippers that do not contain methyl chloride. You will need rubber gloves and eye protection for application and removal of the stripper and goo. Sanding the cedar brings back the smell so you may want to sand the inside.
