I have a Carrier Model 58SXB-080-GG 80,000 BTU
and had a service call for a noisy blower. After
4 service calls, including wrong motor, they tell
me the silicone on the heat exchanger is disintegrating
or something and they want to give me $500 discount
on a new furnace. The furnace is 11 yrs. old and I
never had a problem up til now. The discount is for
the money they will save if they don't have to
replace the blower motor under my parts replacement
plan. New furnace is $3845 + 7% tax.
This damn furnace should last longer than 11 yrs.!!
