Carrier cental a/c

Posted by Richard Andrew on July 9th, 2001 10:07 PM

I have a 13 year old central Carrier split a/c system. I am told that the cost to replace the condensate pan with a replacement Carrier part and to replace a refrigerant leak valve will cost over $900. My a/c serviceman says Carrier replacements parts are a rip off, and that I am better off replacing the air handler with a new Lennox handler for $2,300. All of this is confusing to me and I need advice. My a/c serviceman says the condensate pan should cost a few dollars but Carrier is charging several hundred.
