carpet, seams and lay

Jay J's comments are correct. Also, when installing carpet, you must specify that it be installed "all the same lay". Carpet is manufactured in a specific way, and so should all be installed in the same direction in your home, where it adjoins the same carpet in other pieces. otherwise, your seams really will show up, because the carpet "lay" will be in different directions. Your question is a little unclear, but if your bedroom entrance has a 2 1/2' "hallway" into the room (ie a closet is in the room on one side of the doorway) then a small square piece of carpet "could" go there, but only if the dimensions of the room are greater than the width of the carpet roll. Otherwise, the installer was either lazy, or trying to save money on scraps.

Good luck, have some other carpet dealers come out to the home and give an opinion to back your case...
