We are renovating our house, and have the same problem with our hardwoods. I tried the adhesive removers and found that they didn't work any better than plain elbow grease. Because we have to sand the floors after we're done, adding some water to the floor and using steel wool seems to work the best. The adhesive remover didn't work any better and you have to deal with the fumes. I have also heard that laying dry ice on it will make it brittle enough to pop it up. Good Luck!
