Care Maintenance of Cedar Siding

I recently purchased a house that has cedar planks as siding. The cedar is stained with a light tan color.

What should I be doing to maintain and care for the cedar siding? There are a few nickle and dime size holes where a friend told me that beetles have eaten into the wood but that appears to be the extent of the damage. Should I be concerned?

There appears to be a little bit of green algea growing on the north and south sided of the house. Again, is this a concern.

Any advice will be appreciated.
