We're building a new house northwest of Boston and love the look of white cedar shingle that has weathered to a grey; the "capecod" look. It is done on thousands of houses on the south shore and, of course, on the cape. All the builders we have spoken to try to talk us out of it saying it is alot of maintenance, the shingles split and curl, etc. I don't get it. I understood it to be no maintenance and is a perfect natural siding. Does anyone have any experience with the material? Is it ok or are hundreds of southeastern Massachusetts homeowners wrong?
