Canvas ceiling repair

My home was built in 1927. Most of the ceilings are painted canvas. I few of the ceilings have experienced some water damage and have some peeling paint. In one room, the fabric ceiling has pulled away slightly from the edge, but with the molding in place the only evidence of this is about 1 cm of unpainted canvas visible along one edge of the room.

My question is, should I repaint the ceiling with the peeling paint? My concern is that after I chip away the loose paint, the edges between peeled and unpeeled paint will be very noticable even after a coat of paint. The other options, I guess, are to replace the whole canvas ceiling or to put in plaster ceiling.

Experienced advice would be helpful. Thanks!
