In reply to Mr. Paint...Is it a Laminate or Wood Cabinet? by Tori Burgess on May 1st, 2003 11:05 AM [Go to top of thread]

Hey Tori......I would suggest the same as for laminates.

Clean your cabinets with alcohol (methyl hydrate) - you can get it anywhere that sells paint. It cuts grease and oil (hands) very well - and doesn't leave a residue.

Sand the chipped areas gently with 180 or 220 grit sandpaper - you want to smooth the chips - but not run the layer underneath.

Once this is done - apply one coat of Glidden Ultra-Hide Gripper with a roller (3/8 nap - Purdy White Dove) Let this sit for about 12 hours - sand lightly with your sandpaper - damp wipe - then apply two coats of Glidden Ultra-Hide/Evermore or Ralph Lauren Semi-Gloss latex in your choice of color - sand between each of these coats too.

You will end up with a nice looking set of cabinets!

Hope this answers your question!

Good Luck with it.......
