Hi, Jo-ann. Realistically, there is no good way to significantly lighten the wood color. The teak is dark and, while it might be bleached a step or 2 lighter, there is no way to make it look like maple. You could put a pastel stain over it but it get it lighter, you would have to put on so much that you may as well paint. Even then, paint might not stick well because of the natural oil in teak. But your teak cabinets would seem to me to be a treasure. Just wait a few years and darker cabinets will come back into style again.

There are plenty of places where you can buy new hardware at all different price and quality levels but no place that recycles, as far as I know.
