Cabinet face lift

Katy, if you are on a really tight budget, you might try something we did in our first house. We had original scratch built cabinets in a circa 1947 Cottage Style house. The cabinet were, in a word, horrible, but solid. I found a nice paneling that was in thin sheets and applied this to the door and frame faces, used a small router to trim the edges and put corner moulding around the doors to finish it. Painted the interiors first. Had new countertops made, put in new sink, painted other trim, new floor tile (self stick squares). With little money and time had a "new" kitchen. Was still like that when sold six years ago.
