If not, then that's where you should go. I can't believe they don't have the records all the way back to the first person to file an ownership interest in the land. It may be that the recent records are on microfilm, but for older records you have to actually look at the old dusty books. You can also try going to a Title Company and having them do a title search all the way back. Title companies generally know precisely where to look for this information, and rarely miss.
