I am looking to buy a house that was originally worth $800,000 now on sale in the 300's in Alabama. I was told by the real estate agent-this is due to concerns about the house and moisture issues from dryvit. The structural engineer exam says it was built well. I want to know if dryvit can be removed-the moisture damage to the wood structure assessed, and the dryvit replaced. If so-can this be replaced with brick or real stucco-and if so how much of an expense would you think this would be on a 5,000sq ft house? I appreciate your advise-it can be confusing!
