From what I have been told by the people that sell the Whitfield pellet stoves, you absolutely cannot burn regular wood in them.

I debated for a long time about whether to put in a regular wood burning stove or pellet stove.

After gathering all of the facts, I decided to get one of each. We have a 120 year old 3100 sq. foot house with five fireplaces, so I just put one on each end of the house. I got a great deal on a used Buck stove and bought a new Whitfield pellet stove.

Now when I cut wood, I cut it for the regular fireplace as well as the wood burner.
