Burning Old Cedar Shakes from roof

I have recently replaced my 20 plus year shake roof with architectural 40 year shingles. I have an outdoor Chimenea and plan on burning the old shingles. Someone told me that the shingles may be treated with some type of arsnic compound to help prevent them burning or to preserve them longer. They go up like torches in the Chimenia but I am concerned about the arsnic issue. Is this true and should I be concerned with burning them? I thought I would save the landfill the trash and get some good use from them by burning in my chimenia. Can you advise? I live in Virginia and don't know if treatment occured some 20 years ago. I doubt that I could find out who manufactured them. Could they be tested if this arsnic story is true? Thanks, Randy
