My husband and I just bought a 1924 bungalow. It's beautiful as it is, but we will be doing some improvement work. First project (we close on June 30, so this will begin July 1) will be refinishing the hardwood floors in two rooms (the current owners did all floors but two, for some reason). We've talked with the company that just did the other rooms and they just sanded/buffed with a 24 grade then 80 grade, then did two coats of clear poly. My husband has sanded floors before, but now that we own a $100+K toy, we're nervous about doing something wrong. Anyone out there who's refinished floors - calm my fears and tell me this is as easy as it looks! And any advice for new homeowners (this is our first!!) of an old house is very welcome... Thanks!
