Building a pole barn

Posted by Shawna on April 3rd, 2002 08:34 AM

I have been getting bids on building a 16' x 24' 3 sided pole barn with a 12' slider to the front(which faces the SW wind). It is going to be open inside for a horse. I have a 30' x 36' existing pole barn that I could either build off of it or build a whole new structure right by it.To build off of it, I received a bid for $5200. To build a free standing w/13' eave height to the back at 10', the bid was $3500. Like a lean tube. Besides vapor barriers, and 29 gauge painted metal, what othr factors should I look for or ask about.I will check the contractors board for their status.I would like opinions/ideas on which method would be best. The roof line off the exisiting shop is very high, I could but a small RV in it, with a sliding door on it that the new roof would have to be built over it.The end of that structure would come out 24' to end with about a 9'roof.Thanks
