Brick wall footings

Posted by Dave NH on December 29th, 2002 03:11 PM

I am building a one brick thick, brick wall veneer in my basement. I am using this to create a 300 square foot room using antique bricks as the shell inside 2x6 framing. The brick wall is a non-load bearing decorative wall, however bricks and mortar, even decorative, can be quite heavy. My basement floor is part of a 2 year old poured foundation and is 2 inches thick, over 3/4 inch stone, and load bearing soil. I believe this is a significant enough footing for the brick, but anyone's thoughts on this would be appreciated.
