practiced in my area for than the weaving. I feel its because the weaving is harder and takes precise layering to have even lines and throats. Both will work, but the caution here is prep work on the valleys.

Valley prep can be done with heavy tarpaper going down the valley, roll roofing going down the valley, or I have seen roll flashing going down the valley, the key though is NOT to nail directly in the valley or in the material going down the valley.
