That bone colored masking tape should be outlawed. So many people use that for painting purposes and it creates such a problem.
Most of the residue can be removed as soon as you remove the tape, but after it has set up, it becomes quite a challenge.
I have heard that the following does work: WD 40, (youve tried that), mineral oil, furniture oil or polish, vinegar and water, bleach and water, baking powder and water paste, motor oil, and so on.
But, so much is just talk.
