blown in insulation your only hope short of ripping out drywall...

Foam could cause problems b/c some of them keep expanding after they start to harden and they would bend out the drywall. I would look into blown-in insulation. They cut a 2" (approx.) hole, blow in the insulation, and voila no more whoosh! Just a small hole to patch. You might be able to do this yourself, I just can't quite think how...
