To much water in the mixing or clean up is a common cause of grout discoloration , but there many other factors that can result in a less than satisfactory finished job . These are some tips that may help you on your next job . Mix the grout to a firm consistancy following all mfg. instructions . Don; t forget to let the grout slake ! If the grout is installed to wet the clean up process can not begin untill the grout has set firmly on the surface of the tile . This usually results in vigerous scrubing that not only removes grout from the tile and joint but also the fine pigments used to color the grout . If the grout is installed in a stiff consistancy , clean-
up can begin before grout becomes stuck to the surface . This should result in a full grout
joint and allow you to use a minimum amount of clean water for clean up . Try to have a consistant depth of joint . If part of the area is
in the sun part in shade . ( surface temp ) wind .
Tile with some glazed edges but not all . (obsorption rate ) Yes there are ways to correct this problem . Check with your local tile distributers for Aqua mix modified epoxy emulsion which comes in all std. grout colors . There are also many. solid cement stains avail. for this purpose .
I hope this has helped you !
